Bartelso is a village located in Clinton County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 593.

Geography Bartelso is located at 38°32'12" North, 89°27'58" West (38.536724, -89.466147)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 593 people, 208 households, and 163 families residing in the village. The population density is 654.2/km² (1,699.6/mi²). There are 214 housing units at an average density of 236.1/km² (613.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.48% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.35% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 208 households out of which 42.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.3% are married couples living together, 5.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.2% are non-families. 19.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.85 and the average family size is 3.28.

In the village the population is spread out with 29.0% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 109.5 males.
