In Vodun, Baron Samedi ("Baron Saturday") was a spirit of the dead, along with Baron Cemetière and Baron La Croix; Baron Samedi was usually depicted with a top hat, black tuxedo, sunglasses and a cigar. He was one of the Guédé.
