Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 6,108 people, 1,962 households, and 1,663 families residing in the town. The population density is 458.8/km² (1,188.5/mi²). There are 1,999 housing units at an average density of 150.2/km² (389.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.82% White, 0.36% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. 1.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
