Bakersfield is a village located in Ozark County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 285.

Geography Bakersfield is located at 36°31'27" North, 92°8'40" West (36.524147, -92.144382)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²). 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 285 people, 111 households, and 80 families residing in the village. The population density is 77.5/km² (200.6/mi²). There are 125 housing units at an average density of 34.0/km² (88.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.19% White, 0.00% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.75% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 2.11% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 111 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.0% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% are non-families. 27.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.15.

In the village the population is spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 91.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $20,139, and the median income for a family is $25,714. Males have a median income of $25,096 versus $18,125 for females. The per capita income for the village is $10,752. 20.9% of the population and 20.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 23.8% are under the age of 18 and 14.6% are 65 or older.
