Baduizm

Baduizm is a nu soul album by Erykah Badu, released on February 11, 1997 (see 1997 in music). Her debut album, Baduizm establish Badu as a popular artist, as well as receiving reviews lauding her return to the simplicity of early-1970s soul. Though she has since become known as much for her sometimes extravagant traditional African fashion, Badu's original claim to fame was bass-heavy, groovy beats and emotionally charged lyrics.

Baduizm went to #1 on Billboards Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, and #2 on the Pop Albums chart.
