Bacabs

In Mayan mythology, the Bacabs were four sons of Itzamna and Ixchel. They held the sky up in each of the four directions, and each was associated color. They were also believed to be jaguar Gods.

They were:

  1. Cauac
    1. south
    2. red
  2. Ix
    1. west
    2. black
  3. Kan (later replaced by Chac)
    1. east
    2. yellow
  4. Mulac
    1. north
    2. white
