Astrid Lindgren

Astrid Lindgren (November 14, 1907 - January 28, 2002) was a Swedish author of children's books, translated to more than 70 languages and published in more than 100 countries.

She received the Right Livelihood Award (also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize) in 1994 "...For her commitment to justice, non-violence and understanding of minorities as well as her love and caring for nature." (See [1] (http://www.rightlivelihood.se/recip1994_1)).
