Aston Martin

Aston Martin are a manufacturer of expensive luxury automobiles. Founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin[?] and Robert Bamford, who built and raced specials at the Aston Clinton Hillclimb. The name is derived from Aston Clinton and Lionel Martin. Up to 2002, a total of 16,000 cars had been built by Astin Martin in its 88 -year history.

The classic Aston Martin cars bear the the initials of the company's post-war saviour David Brown, hence DB2, DB3 etc..

Today, the company is owned by Ford and is part of the Ford Premiere Automotive Group; this also includes Volvo, Land Rover, and Jaguar. Current products are the DB7 V12 Coupe and Convertible and the V12 Vanquish Coupe.

The very British glamour of Aston Martin cars meant they were a natural choice for the James Bond series of action films, notably the silver DB5 that appears in Goldfinger[?] of 1964. After an interlude with Lotus and BMW, Aston Martins are again used in the series' 2002 Die Another Day.
