Ardmore is a city located in Tennessee. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,082.

Geography Ardmore is located at 35°0'17" North, 86°51'5" West (35.004746, -86.851402)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.8 km² (4.5 mi²). 11.8 km² (4.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.22% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,082 people, 427 households, and 306 families residing in the city. The population density is 92.0/km² (238.6/mi²). There are 480 housing units at an average density of 40.8/km² (105.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.86% White, 1.76% African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.28% from two or more races. 1.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 427 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% are married couples living together, 12.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% are non-families. 26.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 2.82.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 21.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 82.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $33,571, and the median income for a family is $40,329. Males have a median income of $35,486 versus $25,391 for females. The per capita income for the city is $18,047. 14.5% of the population and 11.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 21.5% are under the age of 18 and 21.0% are 65 or older.
