Anthony Kennedy was born in Sacramento, California. He studied at Stanford University, the London School of Economics, and got his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1961.
Kennedy was nominated by President Gerald Ford to U. S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and took office on May 30, 1975. He was nominated by President Ronald Reagan as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court and took office on February 18, 1988.
