Anne McHugh was born in Manhattan on April 15, 1966, to Margaret and Padraig McHugh. She has an older brother Patrick, and a younger sister, Maura, and brother, Brendan. When Anne was six years old her family moved back to Tuam, in Co. Galway, Ireland. She was a vibrant person, and was quick to make loyal friends. Her love of life meant that she was always in the thick of things, and she seemed most at home when hanging out with her friends and having fun.

She moved to Manhattan when she was 19, and eventually started working with Cantor Fitzgerald - staying with the company for twelve and a half years. Anne worked hard at her job, and eventually became a Broker due to her intelligence, dedication and ability. She easily beguiled people with her warmth and wit, and her friends knew she could be depended upon for honesty and compassion. She began working with Euro Brokers in January 2001, a move that made her very happy.

Anne travelled home to Ireland several times a year, and was the life and soul of the party when she was there. She enjoyed travelling (though not flying) and visited many places throughout the USA, as well as Europe and Australia. However, she loved living in her neighbourhood in the East Side of Manhattan, and planned to stay there a long time. Anne was also very creative, having a life-long interest in Art, and even branched out into areas like pottery. She was a voracious reader, and loved going to the movies, and watching TV - especially all her Science Fiction shows. Anne was a sports fan and supported the Vikings, the Yankees and the Galway team in Ireland no matter what they were playing.

Anne met her fiancé, Patrick Day, in August 1999. They were a perfect match, which was obvious to everyone who ever saw them together. From the time they met Anne and Patrick were only apart for three days. They squeezed a lifetime's worth of happiness into those two years. They were due to be married on November 24, 2001 in Florence, Italy.

Anne is survived by her fiancé Patrick Day, her parents Padraig and Margaret McHugh, her brother Patrick, his wife Janet and their two children Paul and Sarah, her sister Maura and her husband Martin, and her brother Brendan.
