Anderson County is a county located in the U.S. State of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 19,111. Its county seat is Lawrenceburg, Kentucky6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 529 km² (204 mi²). 525 km² (203 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.79% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 19,111 people, 7,320 households, and 5,526 families residing in the county. The population density is 36/km² (94/mi²). There are 7,752 housing units at an average density of 15/km² (38/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 96.53% White, 2.35% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 7,320 households out of which 37.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.80% are married couples living together, 9.20% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.50% are non-families. 20.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the county the population is spread out with 26.60% under the age of 18, 7.40% from 18 to 24, 32.40% from 25 to 44, 22.70% from 45 to 64, and 10.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 95.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.00 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $45,433, and the median income for a family is $50,837. Males have a median income of $33,125 versus $25,053 for females. The per capita income for the county is $18,621. 7.50% of the population and 4.80% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 8.70% are under the age of 18 and 13.10% are 65 or older.
