Anaktoron

In the secret rites of the Eleusinian mysteries, held within the Telesterion, the Anaktoron ("palace") was a small, rectangular stone building within the Telesterion itself. Only hierophantes[?] were allowed to touch it. Inside, the sacred objects of Demeter were kept.
