Ambedkar

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (1891-1956), aka Bhimrao Ambedkar, was born into a low caste society of India. Despite being born amongst the untouchables, he led India’s millions of excluded and oppressed to their human rights. He is also known for high academic achievement and his involvement in the 1949 Constitution for India.

He is popularly known for his protest against the Hindu caste system and leading millions of the untouchables or Dalits[?] and himself to renouncing Hinduism and embracing the religion of Buddhism.

"If you ask me, my ideal would be the society based on liberty, equality and fraternity. An ideal society should be mobile and full of channels of conveying a change taking place in one part to other parts." stated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

"The fundamental principle of Buddhism is equality... Buddhism was called the religion of Shudras. There was only one man who raised his voice against separatism and Untouchability and that was Lord Buddha."
