Altoona is a town located in Lake County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 88.

Geography Altoona is located at 28°57'57" North, 81°38'54" West (28.965742, -81.648453)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 12.00% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 88 people, 39 households, and 26 families residing in the town. The population density is 75.5/km² (196.5/mi²). There are 49 housing units at an average density of 42.0/km² (109.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.86% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.14% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 1.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 39 households out of which 20.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.5% are married couples living together, 5.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% are non-families. 28.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.26 and the average family size is 2.78.

In the town the population is spread out with 19.3% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 91.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $27,143, and the median income for a family is $58,750. Males have a median income of $22,000 versus $40,417 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,939. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
