Aldgate, London, England

Aldgate was a gateway of the City of London, located by the East End. It is close to Whitechapel.

In 1773, Poems on Various Subjects, Religioius and Moral[?] by Phillis Wheatley, the first book by an African American was published here after her owners could not find a publisher in Boston.
