Albert Stubbins

Saturday 28 December 2002: death announced of Albert Stubbins at the age of 84.

Albert played thirty times for Newcastle United FC scoring six goals;the Second World War robbed the team of an all-time great centre-forward.

In war-time games he scored a 188 goals in just 231 appearances.

It is his career with Liverpool FC which gained him most fame, including an appearance on the front cover of The Beatles' Sergeant Peppers album. He also has a Liverpool FC fan club named in his honour.
