Demographics As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,528 people, 556 households, and 404 families residing in the town. The population density is 163.4/km² (423.0/mi²). There are 612 housing units at an average density of 65.5/km² (169.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 59.95% White, 0.46% African American, 2.68% Native American, 0.92% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 30.37% from other races, and 5.56% from two or more races. 54.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 556 households out of which 38.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% are married couples living together, 10.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% are non-families. 21.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
