Lucius Aemilius Paullus Macedonicus

Redirected from Aemilius Paullus Macedonius

Lucius Aemilius Paullus Macedonicus (died 160 BC), Roman general and politician. He was the son of Lucius Aemilius Paullus.

Aemillius Paullus was consul twice. In the years 190 - 189 BC he subdued the Lusitanians. During his second consulship, he led the Roman forces to victory in the Battle of Pydna, and for this was awarded the surname Macedonicus.

His son was adopted by a son of Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus Major, and became known as Scipio the Younger, or Publius Cornelius Scipio Aemilianus[?], following his conquest of Carthage in the Third Punic War in 146 BC.
