Adam's Rib

Adam's Rib is a 1950 film in which Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy play lawyers who are married to each other and take opposing sides on a case in which a woman attempts to kill her adulterous husband. The tension in the courtroom carries over into the couple's household.

The film was directed by George Cukor and written by married couple Garson Kanin[?] and Ruth Gordon (later to make a name for herself as the oversolicitous neighbor in Rosemary's Baby[?]).

The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. It has since been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
