Ada County is a county located in the U.S. State of Idaho. As of 2000, the population is 300,904. The county's county seat is Boise, Idaho6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,746 km² (1,060 mi²). 2,732 km² (1,055 mi²) of it is land and 14 km² (5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.50% water.

Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 300,904 people, 113,408 households, and 77,344 families residing in the county. The population density is 110/km² (285/mi²). There are 118,516 housing units at an average density of 43/km² (112/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 92.86% White, 0.65% African American, 0.69% Native American, 1.74% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 1.67% from other races, and 2.24% from two or more races. 4.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 113,408 households out of which 36.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.10% are married couples living together, 9.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.80% are non-families. 23.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59 and the average family size is 3.11.

In the county the population is spread out with 27.30% under the age of 18, 10.30% from 18 to 24, 32.50% from 25 to 44, 20.80% from 45 to 64, and 9.10% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 100.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.90 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $46,140, and the median income for a family is $54,416. Males have a median income of $37,867 versus $26,453 for females. The per capita income for the county is $22,519. 7.70% of the population and 5.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 9.20% are under the age of 18 and 5.70% are 65 or older.
