Abuja, Nigeria

Abuja, estimated population 378,700 (1991), is the capital of Nigeria. It was decided to move the national capital from Lagos in 1976, and a capital territory was chosen for its location near the center of the country. The planned city is located in the center of the federal capital territory[?]. Abuja officially became Nigeria's capital in 1991. It's current population is over 1 million people.
