Aberdeen, Idaho

Aberdeen is a city located in Bingham County, Idaho. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,840.

Geography Aberdeen is located at 42°56'36" North, 112°50'22" West (42.943405, -112.839322)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,840 people, 603 households, and 435 families residing in the city. The population density is 696.5/km² (1,807.9/mi²). There are 654 housing units at an average density of 247.6/km² (642.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 66.30% White, 0.11% African American, 0.71% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 28.91% from other races, and 3.59% from two or more races. 39.29% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 603 households out of which 41.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.7% are non-families. 26.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.05 and the average family size is 3.75.

In the city the population is spread out with 38.3% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 17.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $28,625, and the median income for a family is $31,393. Males have a median income of $27,537 versus $19,531 for females. The per capita income for the city is $10,907. 20.5% of the population and 14.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 27.0% are under the age of 18 and 14.2% are 65 or older.
