Abercarn is a district in the county of Gwent, Wales, 10 miles north-west of Newport, Gwent[?] by the Great Western railway[?]. The district is traditionally associated with collieries, ironworks and tinplate works; the town, which lies in the middle portion of the Ebbw[?] valley, being situated on the south-eastern flank of the once great mining region of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire.
