The
6510 is a
microprocessor designed by
MOS Technologies, and is a successor to the
6502. The primary changes were the addition of clock pins, which allowed the chip to use external clocks, and the addition of I/O ports which allowed the CPU to handle simple tasks without needing the 6522 VIA.
The 6510 was only widely used in the Commodore 64 home computer.
