The 1960 Summer Paralympic Games were the first Paralympics. They were held in Rome, Italy with the Olympics. The only disability included in this paralympics was spinal cord injury[?]. Twenty-three countries took part with 400 athletes.

The Games lasted from September 19 to September 24, with the opening ceremony on September 18 opened by Camillo Giardina[?]. The closing ceremony was on September 25.
