1936 Governor General's Awards

The 1936 Governor General's Awrds for Literary Merti were the first ever Governor General's awards presented. Only two categories were represented, Fiction and Non-Fiction. French books were not counted.

The wards were presented by Lord Tweedsmuir, the Governor General of Canada and himself the noted author of The 39 Steps.
