• June 27 - The first public demonstration of a mechanical color television, by H. E. Ives[?] and his colleagues at Bell Telephone Laboratories in New York City. The first images are of a bouquet of roses and an American flag. The images are transmitted between New York and Washington, DC.
• September 30 - The BBC and John Logie Baird begin daily experimental broadcasting of 30-line television transmissions using the BBC’s 2LO transmitter.
• Milton Berle appears in an experimental television broadcast in the US.
